How to Enroll In Medicare
For most people, the earliest you may start your Medicare is the first day of the month you turn 65. If you’re born on the 1st of the month you are eligible for the first of the preceding month. If you’re receiving social security disability or have certain diseases you may be eligible considerably earlier, call us at 1-800-507-6778 for details.
Applying for Medicare is easy, but knowing which plan to choose is hard. You can sign up for Medicare online (or set up a meeting with one of our agents to walk you through the process together.)

Automatic Enrollment in Medicare
If you start receiving Social Security Income prior to 65, your Medicare part A and B will be started for you automatically. You should receive your card in the mail with both A & B effective dates between 90 and 100 days prior to your effective date. If you currently receive group coverage, you will be given the option not to sign up for part B. If you currently have “Creditable” drug coverage you have an option not to sign up for part D coverage. You can collect Social Security and not start your Medicare. Determining if you should stay on group coverage is a big decision and you should talk to a Medicare Professional to determine if you are giving up any options by doing so.

MEDICARE COVERAGE & COSTS
There are many different options when it comes to Medicare coverage. It can be hard to know which one is right for you and your needs. You may have heard terms like “Medicare Part A” or “Medicare Part D” in the news.
We have a breakdown of all parts of Medicare, so you know exactly what to look for and what each plan covers. Check out our guide to see the full rundown of Medicare coverage and costs.
MEDICARE ADVANTAGE AND SUPPLEMENT PLANS
A Medicare Advantage Plan is a health plan that is offered by a private insurance agency and provides all of the benefits of Original Medicare (Part A and Part B). In most cases, a Medicare Advantage plan also offers Part D prescription drug coverage. Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) will pay for the extra costs such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles that Medicare may not completely cover.
MEDICARE DRUG COVERAGE
Original Medicare does not cover most prescription drugs. However, you can purchase a Part D plan. In determining what Part D plan is right for you will depend on your medication needs. Learn more about drug coverage options or set up a meeting with one of our agents to find the perfect fit for you.
