Are you satisfied with your Medicare Advantage plan? If not, there may be other plan options available, you have until February 14th, 2018 to make a switch.
Remind me…what is a MADP Plan?
A Medicare Advantage Plan (also known as Medicare Part C) usually includes a drug plan for prescription drug coverage. For details, check out our full breakdown of Medicare plans.
Why would I want to change my plan?
There are several factors in which you would want to change your plan. Here are a few examples.
- Your Doctor is not in network
- Your medications are not covered
- Are you able to travel?

What can I do?
As per the Medicare.gov site:
- If you’re in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can leave your plan and switch to Original Medicare.
- If you switch to Original Medicare during this period, you’ll have until February 14 to also join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to add drug coverage. Your coverage will begin the first day of the month after the plan gets your enrollment form.
What can’t I do?
As per the Medicare.gov site:
- Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan.
- Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another.
- Switch from one Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to another.
- Join, switch, or drop a Medicare Medical Savings Account (MSA) Plan.
